Some of our tours do not include transportation, since our tour guides will use public transportation. Why? We believe that it is more economic and convenient for our customers. Providing a private car will create unreasonable added cost that will eventually come out of your pocket. The transportation system in Seoul is good, but very complex and even with a guide book it may not be very easy to use for tourist visiting Korea for the first time. So, please do not waste your time if you’re not stay long in Seoul.
Korea, especially Seoul faces serious transportation problems, such as congestion and lack of parking spaces, all of which have resulted from the increasing number of vehicles on the road. To solve these problems, the government has developed a more convenient public transportation system. Seoul has one of the world's largest subway-network in the world. The subway system is very complex and extends to almost every neighborhood in Seoul and urban railway networks connecting the central city to its satellite cities.
Taxis are inexpensive and don’t expect a tip. However, since most taxi drivers don’t speak English, finding a taxi will take you to your destination will be time consuming for foreign visitors.
Regular taxis are a good deal and are cheaper than the bus or subway when three people make a short trip. The cost for a regular taxi starts at 3,000won for the first 2km and then 100won for every 144m or 41 seconds afterwards. A 20% surcharge is payable between midnight and 4am. Deluxe taxis (called Mobeom in Korean) are black with a yellow stripe and starts at W5,000 for the first 3km and then 200won for every 164m or 39 seconds, and don’t have a late-night surcharge.
Few drivers can speak English, but some taxis have a free interpretation service - you speak on the phone in English to an interpreter who then talks to the taxi driver in Korean.
All taxis have meters, but on the Incheon airport route passengers must pay the road toll in addition to the meter charge. And foreigners should be careful about illegal taxis at the airport, they don’t use meter and the fee is more expensive.
